The Project “Reduction of Domestic Violence” aims to strengthen protection and prevention mechanisms for the victims of domestic violence in the country. Within the framework of the protection component, the national referral mechanism was developed for the identification, protection and rehabilitation of victims of domestic violence, which is a state multi-sector response to domestic violence. In the framework of this component, a social worker concept was developed on the issues of domestic violence and its role was institutionalized. A public awareness raising campaign is being implemented in the framework of the prevention component, which is aimed at mental shift of the society in the sense that domestic violence is not a private problem, but a problem of the society as a whole. Public Meetings, meetings at the universities and students, at schools are being conducted on the regular basis. Information on state services and the hotline are provided on the meetings and causes and social consequences of domestic violence are also being discussed.
